About eHGI

eHealth is a powerful approach for solving today's health and healthcare challenges like ageing populations, the global economic downturn, demographic crises, chronic disease rates, lack of qualified staff and increasing geographic mobility. Some Member States are now at the stage of starting large-scale eHealth implementation programs, while others are already in the roll-out phase. Leaders in the eHealth area are in a stage of making use of the benefits eHealth has to offer and expanding these solutions to telemedicine, disease management, and personalized medicine.

Accordingly, there is a strong need to build national solutions based on common European or global standards in order to ensure their interoperability, thus enabling the continuity of healthcare across borders and supporting the free movement of EU citizens. National eHealth projects will benefit only through joint solutions to solve the above mentioned challenges.
